Q3: What kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?

A distributor is someone or a company that is responsible for the marketing of the film. This is because they have certain roles within the making like choosing how the film should be released.

The distributor we chose to use as a group is Lionsgate. The reason why we chose to use this distributor is because they have taken part in many thriller films. Lionsgate is a big distributor with many films that are well known and popular. A lot of their films are very successful, an example of this would be the Hunger Games. The reason I think this is because this film has become extremely popular with the majority of people wanting to watch it. Sometimes, Lionsgate films are advertised on TV showing trailers of new films that are going to come out in cinema, this is a good way as people will be able to see whether they are interested in going to see that specific film.

Some films that Lionsgate have distributed that are similar to the genre of our film are;

Sink pictures

Once we had put together our opening sequence, we realised that the setting of where was filming the scenes including the sink didn't seem realistic, but it also seemed as though we hadn't thought properly about where to film these scenes. Watching the opening sequence together, the sink seemed too small and low to film from. We had an idea which could overcome this problem and that was to use a sink that is also located in Glenthorne High School. The reason why we think this could be better is because the sink is a lot bigger which would be more effective for the blood dripping and for one of the characters to be washing the blood off their hands. We went around the school and took some photos of the sink we are thinking of using and these images are below:

Shots

These are the first set of shots that myself and my group have produced to start off with our filming for the opening sequence. We have focused this setting in a bathroom so we have the sink to use the blood in as one of the characters is washing the blood of their hands to show that they have committed a crime! In these shots I think the blood looks really effective and very realistic which can make our opening sequence seem more interesting.

Shooting Scheldule

This is our groups shooting scheldule which has the information on the dates that we are going to shot the certain shots, the location, the casting who are involved in the specific shot. Moreover, the props and cosutme are also written in detail so we know exactly what we are needing to be wearing for the specific shots and the equipment that we need. The reason why this is important is because, it allows us to know exactly where we are for each shot so we don't get confused and behind on what we are doing. Also having props and costume on the shooting scheldule is important as we can then know what we need to wear and what props will need to be brought in on certain days. For example the fake blood needs to be brought in on the 6th January.

Location Permission

These are the letters that our group have wrote out to send to the head teacher of the school, Mr Hume and the Sutton Council as we are asking for permission to film in the specific location that we have chose to film in for our opening sequence. In the letter we have explained that we are Glenthorne High School students currently studying media for one of our A Levels. We have also written about the genre that we have chose for our opening sequence, this is a good thing because we are explaining to Sutton Council and Mr Hume that the reason for us to film in this location is because the parts for our genre that we want to film are within these grounds. We have said how it will be an advantage to helping us with our filming and would help to give us the best grade as possible.
